Baptism on board Statsraad Lehmkuhl

Statsraad Lehmkuhl was all set for an ecumenical service this morning, on the second day of The Tall Ships Races in Ålesund. On board was both several guests, some dressed up in national costumes. A baptism of a child on board a sailship is something few get to experience.

Sporty priest

When Maria Taxbro and Ruben Dyb asked the priest if he could conduct the baptism, he was allready booked. He was going to hold the ecumenical services during The Tall Ships Races. This led the priest André Sjåvåg to the idea to hold the baptism during this special service, which was going to be outdoor on one of the tallships at the port i Ålesund.

Both Maria og Ruben is from families with close relations to the sea, so for them this was a brilliant idea.

Little Ava was awake and did not cry. For the rest of her life, she'll be told about this specail day.
